Biondi-Santi

Biondi-Santi

Widely regarded as the “original” producer of Brunello and founder of the Sangiovese Grosso clone that makes it, Biondi-Santi has been producing staunchly traditional style Brunello from their home in Montalcino, Tuscany since the 1800’s. Indeed, the first recorded mention of Brunello was Clemente Santi’s 1865 award winning “select red wine” (which was Brunello) at a local fair in 1867. These wines are lean and aromatic, with tense freshness and acidity and are legendary for their ability to age gracefully for 100 years or more! Biondi-Santi produces an Annata (or normale) bottling from younger vines as well as a riserva sourced from the iconic Greppo vineyard from vines varying from 25-80yrs old. These are some of the most fabled, respected, and collectible wines in all of Italy.
