The wines of Bordeaux are all about class and distinction. Eschewing sheer brawn for restraint and elegance, these wines represent the apogee of complexity and refinement. To be sure, Bordeaux needs not to advertise its station but rather presides over the landscape with the unmistakable power and authority of a Lion over its Pride.
The Bordelais are masters of the art of blending. The two most important grapes being Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Cabernet Sauvignon dominates the blends of the “Left Bank” (St. Estephe, Pauillac, St Julien, Margaux, etc) whereas Merlot takes center stage in Bordeaux’s “Right Bank” in communes like Pomerol and St Emilion.
Whether it’s the structure and strength of the Left Bank or the Velvet fleshiness of the Right, no other wine impresses with more gravitas than the wines of Bordeaux.
