Fred Schrader, or “Old Sparky” as he is affectionately known, caught the wine bug at the Napa Valley Wine Auction in 1988. By 1998, Schrader Cellars was born with “rock star” wine maker Thomas Rivers Brown as winemaker and consultant. Schrader is now a powerhouse producer of multiple 100pt Cabernet Sauvignons from some of Napa Valley’s most highly respected vineyards. Schrader wines stand unique in that they focus on single clonal selections (4,6,337) of Cabernet Sauvignon from these highly coveted sites, including To Kalon, George III, Las Piedras, and Dr. Crane, to name a few. These are classically “modern Napa” in style; fruit forward and concentrated with plush, opulent textures. This philosophy has been handsomely rewarded with no less than 27 perfect 100pt scores. Schrader Cellars was sold to Constellation Brands in 2017 with Thomas Rivers Brown retained as winemaker.
