Château Mouton-Rothschild
Located in the commune of Pauillac, Château Mouton-Rothschild is one of five First Growth Bordeaux estates. In 1924 Château Mouton-Rothschild pioneered the practice of bottling its harvest at the Château as opposed to shipping the harvest to be produced elsewhere. Originally excluded from the 1855 Classification, Mouton-Rothschild was re-classified and included as a First Growth in 1973 after years of intense lobbying by its powerful and influential owner Baron Phillipe de Rothschild. The estate is also celebrated for commissioning its labels to be painted by famous contemporary artists for each vintage. Château Mouton-Rothschild is known for being the most flamboyant and exotically spiced of all the First Growths and is dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon. This along with its storied pedigree make it one of the most coveted wines in the world.
