Château Beaucastel

Château Beaucastel

A true icon of the Southern Rhône, Château de Beaucastel has roots in the area tracing back to the 1500’s and has been producing benchmark Châteauneuf du Pape since 1909. While strident stewards of traditional wine making, Beaucastel are pioneers in organic agriculture, farming organically since the 1960’s, the first estate in Châteauneuf to do so. They are also known for being one of the only producers who use all 13 permitted grape varietals in their wine, and for using a large amount of Mourvèdre in their blends. This translates to wines of soul and power, with enough structure to age for several decades. Their top bottlings are their grand vin Château de Beaucastel and their Hommage Jacque Perrin (made with a dominant use of old vine Mourvèdre), as well as their Beaucastel Blanc Vielle Vignes (produced from old vine Roussanne planted in 1909).
