Masseto

First released in 1986, Masseto quickly gained legendary “cult” status as one of the most outstanding, coveted, and ultra-rare wines in the world. Located in the celebrated region of Bolgheri, Tuscany, Masseto is a very unique single vineyard wine made entirely of Merlot from the vineyard bearing its name. Its fortuitous terroir is integral in its excellence. Bolgheri, like Bordeaux, was once marshland that has since been filled in with rocks, clay, and gravel, making it ideal in the cultivation of the Bordeaux varietal Merlot. Indeed, in the early 80’s, Napa wine making legend André Tchelitscheff recognized the remarkable potential of this vineyard and contributed to the conception of Masseto. This is one of the most iconic of the Super Tuscans and one of most collectible wines in the world.
